Our passion is to introduce individuals to the rewards of recreating in the outdoors. We seek to instruct lifetime skills and provide services with long-range benefits for future generations.
Our outdoor programs offer many avenues to experience the vitality of nature.
Adventure Programs: Kayaking, stand up paddle boarding, canoeing, hiking, rock climbing, skiing, snowboarding, and snow tubing.
Experimental Education: Zip Line, Team Building and Initiatives, Outdoor Camps, Youth Outdoor Adventures, Amphibian/Reptile Bioblitz, Low ropes challenge course.
Traditional Outdoor Sports: archery, fishing, swimming, Hunter Safety Education, Boater Safety Education.
Special Park Programs: Summer Movies in the Park Series, Bark in the Park, Luminary Trail Walk, Ballou Park Christmas Tree Lighting, Trail runs and Mountain Bike races.
Wintergreen Tubing Trip
Take the plunge at Virginia's largest tubing park. With winter in full swing, take advantage of the season using nature's frozen surface to ride by yourself or connected to someone else for even more thrills. Ages 8 to adult. Under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Cost $49.

Winter Bird Hikes
Enjoy the sights and sounds of winter bird watching in Danville's parks. Learn the songs of common wintering birds while embarking on a short hike. Search for birds hiding in the brush along the Dan River. Bring your own binoculars. Ages 8 and up. Free.

Ever wonder how to identify trees after the leaves have fallen? Join us as we embark on a winter hike at Angler's Park and learn tree species by their bark shape and color, size, and height. All ages welcome Free.
